About Maligne Canyon

A narrow limestone slot in Jasper National Park, Alberta. In places over 50 m deep but only a few meters wide. Water from Medicine Lake drains underground through karst and resurfaces in the canyon, one of the largest underground river systems in North America. In winter visitors walk the frozen canyon floor among ice falls. Six footbridges cross it along the trail.
