About New River Gorge
A rugged gorge in West Virginia carved by the New River, despite its name one of the oldest rivers in North America. Designated a US national park in 2020. The New River Gorge Bridge, completed in 1977, is 924 m long and stands 267 m above the river. On Bridge Day each October BASE jumpers leap from it legally. A former coal mining region now famous for rafting and climbing.
